Scholarships in memory of musician

Four scholarships will be awarded to students of the Institute of Aesthetic Studies affiliated to the Kelaniya University to mark the 24th death anniversary of musician R. A. Chandrasena at 10. am today at the Aesthetic Institute.

The scholarships will be granted from the R. A. Chandrasena Fund established one year ago under the Public Trustee Department.

Dr. Pandith W.D. Amaradeva, Public Trustee N. S. A. S. Seneviratne, Director Aesthetic Institute Keerthisena Herath and Head of the Music Department Mahanama Wickremasinghe along with artistes and guests will participate.Meanwhile, the National Film Corporation has organised a commemorative ceremony for artistes R.A. Chandrasena and Prem Jayanth on March 1 at 6.00 pm at the Tower Hall Theatre, Maradana.

The ceremony will begin with floral tributes to be followed by commemorative speeches and awards presentation.

Hits of yesteryear films with music directed by R.A. Chandrasena will be a feature and Prem Jayanth will be on screen playing his role to those songs sung to the music provided by Sumith Chandrasiri and D. D. Gunasena.
