Twelve killed in Kashmir SRINAGAR, India, Sunday (AFP) Seven Muslim militants and five Indian security force personnel were killed in two separate clashes in Indian-administered Kashmir late Saturday, police said. The first gunfight erupted Saturday evening in the southern district of Pulwama, when two Indian border guards and one militant were killed during an encounter. Indian security guards had carried out a raid on a tip-off that the Hizbul Mujahedin rebel group's intelligence chief, Tariq Aziz, was present there. Aziz escaped, but his bodyguard was killed, police said. In the second incident, three Indian army soldiers, including an officer and six Muslim militants, were killed in northern Baramulla district of Kashmir. |
