by Ranil Wijayapala Twenty one disabled LTTE cadres; 12 males and 9 females, along with three civilians from LTTE held areas in the Wanni crossed to Government controlled areas through Omanthai entry and exit point to visit their villages in Batticaloa, defence sources in Vavuniya said yesterday. Three personnel from the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission escorted those disabled cadres who were travelling by a bus holding the number plate 29 - 6333. Those LTTE cadres crossed the Omanthai entry and exit point with Security Forces' approval yesterday around 11.30 am, sources added. Meanwhile, Security Forces and Police manning a check point in Mankerni, in Batticaloa informed the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission on Saturday about a LTTE cadre on a motorcycle who crossed the checkpoint without stopping there. The Security Forces later found that the motorcycle belonged to an LTTE cadre called Muralithas. |
