Baghdad bombs kill 42, 224 wounded BAGHDAD, Monday (Reuters) A series of bombs killed 42 people and wounded 224 in Baghdad on Monday, Iraq's police chief and deputy interior minister said. Ahmad Ibrahim told a news conference 26 of the dead were civilians and eight were police. Sixty-five policemen and 159 civilians were wounded in the blasts that rocked the city. Bombers struck at least four times in Baghdad's morning rush hour, near the Red Cross headquarters and police stations in the capital's bloodiest day since Saddam Hussein's overthrow. |
