Had it not been for this we would not have been able to see the completion on of the work of Horagolla Bridge which was left uncompleted for a long period, said Sanjeewa Kaviratne, the District Parliamentarian (Matale) at a meeting held at Rattota, where the Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake instructed the REAP - Matale to set aside Rs. 30 lacks for the completion of the Horagolla Bridge. Speaking further Sanjeewa Kaviratne said the bridge will augment economic development of the area linking about 300 families who live in Welanghawatta-Horagolla, Maussagolla and Panthirage. He thanked the Minister of Central Region Development for his involvement in the needs of his zones, executing his responsibility to the letter. The Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake said that he would not take part in any foundation laying ceremony - unless the required allocations are duly assigned. Satisfying people with foundation stones and cheating the public had been a practice adopted by the previous government. But I do not do such acts, said the Minister. Speaking further Mr. Tissa Attanayake said infrastructure development augment economic development of a country. Several villages in the Central Development Zones did not have proper water service, electricity and roads under our concept - with abundance supply of foreign aids - we are out to serve the public. This is the biggest opportunity we have got after decades of conflicts and wars, which then government stopped - under the peace process. |
