Brother sister duo chopped to death by teenager

The gory murder of a brother and sister duo by a 15-year-old boy living next door to their home on Sunday evening has sent shockwaves among the populace of Ambalanpitiya, Eheliyagoda.

The 25-year-old brother and his 22-year-old sister, a Kelaniya University student was chopped to death while their 52-year-old mother is in critical condition with stab injuries. The suspected youth was taken into custody.

According to the Eheliyagoda Police OIC Inspector, Kumara Sandanayake the double murder is suspected to be linked to a family dispute, where the 15-year-old son of the neighbouring family had stabbed the mother first and then the daughter and later the son.

After stabbing the mother, the boy had lay in wait for the brother and sister to return home when he made his move chopping them dead on the spot, the OIC said.

During the post mortem, it was revealed that the there were two separate injuries caused by chopping and stabbing by a sharp weapon, Police said. Police also suspects a third party involvement in the double murder.

Eheliyagoda Police are investigating.
