Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Model of the Universe 2003
It was a night to remember for starry-eyed Achala Dwoshini when she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Model of the Universe 2003. Achala certainly didn't have it easy as she found pretty, tough competition along the way. The gala event held at Trans Asia Hotel was also to celebrate the hotel's 'Library'. The show consisted of several segments including traditional costume, casualwear, swimwear and evening attire and prizes were awarded to mini pageants that were held earlier too. The casualwear from Salu Sala were designs by Sharmini of Silkwrap, swimwear courtesy of Aqualinea while Salon Shalini helped out with hair and make-up at mini pageants. The contest which took place due mostly to the efforts of Sebastian Perera JP All Island, Chairman, Celsin Ltd and Franchise Director for the Model of the Universe 2003 in Sri Lanka, was sponsored by National Lotteries Board, Three Coins Beer, Alankara (Pvt) Ltd., Salu Sala, Palm Beach Hotel, Clancy's and Trans Asia Hotel.
