Rs. 100 million BOI project to produce fire fighting equipment

A new BOI venture to produce advanced fire fighting equipment set up recently will offer many employment opportunities. The enterprise is a partnershipbetween a reputed Sri Lankan company and a British partner with experience in the manufacture of this specialised equipment, a company source said. Edna, is a name synonymous with chocolates and confectionery.

However the company is a diversified organisation with interests in Foundry Engineering, Agricultural Equipment, Electrical Appliances, Packaging, Paper Making, Pharmaceuticals, Weighing Machinery and Equipment. From modest beginnings 50 years ago in the hills of Mawanella, today the Edna Group has grown to be a large conglomerate in the country.

Taking advantage of the favourable investment climate and globalisation, Edna has identified a well established company in the UK, Holmedge Company Limited of Manchester, to be their partner for a joint venture in Sri Lanka to produce fire fighting and protection equipment, Marine Valves, Precision Dies, Moulds and Patterns.

The new venture Edna Eagles (Pvt) Limited is a Rs. 100 million project, and would have state of the art CNC Machining facilities to complete products to exacting international standards, which would be exported to their existing customer base in the UK, USA and Continent. The products would be made of Bronze, Aluminium and Ferrous Castings.
