The Presidential Secretariat yesterday reiterated that the Interim Administrative proposals sent to the President were different from the proposals sent to the LTTE. Contradicting Cabinet Spokesman Professor G.L. Peiris's comments that the only difference between the two documents are fullstops and commas. The Presidential Secretariat said the difference is based on the fundamental principles outlining the functions of the proposed structure. "One document has assigned the proposed Council with security, land, police and tax collection, while the other has not," the Presidential Secretariat said in a press release. This is a difference based on principles which would have a significant impact on the Sri Lankan State, it said. It questioned the motives of the Prime Minister's Office to send a false document, adding that this proves the fact the Government had not informed the President of the development on the peace front since the inception of the peace process. The President Secretariat stressed that the relevant officials are under obligation to explain the reasons that caused the difference of the two documents. |
