Minister's son apologises to Police officer

Kavinda Jayawardena, son of Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Jayawardena yesterday tendered an apology in person to the Police officer whom he assaulted and injured during a scene opposite St. Bridget's Convent last saturday.

Earlier Minister Jaywardena had reportedly rapped his son and demanded that he apologise to PC H.M.R.S.Bandara who was injured in the ear by the assault in a skirmish opposite St. Bridget's allegedly over the pasting of some posters by some male students of an International school, led by Jayawardena junior.

Yesterday Kavinda Jayawardena had reported at the Cinnamon Gardens Police station and apologised to the OIC, Chief Inspector Tissa Illanperuma over the incident and then sought for the PC whom he attacked .He(Kavinda) was directed to the home of the PC where the apology was tendered in person.
