Over 50 Indian buyers to attend Facets show The organisers of Facets 2003, the 13th Sri Lanka International Gem and Jewellery show had a barter agreement with the organisers of IIJS (India International Jewellery Show) through the courtesy of Sanjay Kothari, a Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Mumbai. The exhibition was held from July 18 to 21 in Mumbai. Akram Mansoor, Juzar Adamly and M.S.M. Fazli, all Directors of FACETS who were at the Facets Stall promoted the exhibition among many dealers. Speaking from Mumbai, Mansoor said that more than 50 buyers have already indicated their willingness to attend Facets 2003, to be held at the Hilton Colombo from September 8 to 10. The Sri Lankan delegation for the BIMST EC Expert Group meeting was headed by Rusiripala Tennekone, Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority who along with the Directors of Facets made a presentation on behalf of Sri Lanka. The countries represented at this meeting and at the exhibition were from Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Sri Lanka obtained maximum exposure as a "direct source" for the finest gemstones in the world. Mansoor said that there was a heavy demand for participation as exhibitors at Facets 2003 but we were not in a position to offer them any space as we were running at full capacity of 75 stalls, which had already been booked by May this year. With the impending arrival of many international buyers for Facets 2003, the show promises to be the most glittering event of the year, he said. |
