ISB to promote renewable energy projects with participation of private sector investors The Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) in a bid to find a solution for the country's power crisis is planning to promote renewable energy projects with the participation of private sector investors.
The ISB has already made arrangements to set up mini-hydro projects, wind and gasifier power projects in selected areas of the country and is now looking for private sector investors as project partners, an ISB official told the Daily News. The ISB has invited private sector investors to set up two mini hydro projects in Matara and Kandy districts. The two proposed projects with electrical generating capacity of 250kw and 174kw would cost approximately Rs.25 million and Rs.17 million. In this project, ISB will act as the developer, implementer and operator of the two mini-hydro projects. The official also said that the ISB is planning to set up more mini-hydro projects in Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya districts. The ISB is also planning to promote wind based power projects in Wayamba and the Southern provinces of the country. It has already started working on a wind based power project in Kalpitiya. |
