Nepal names new negotiators for talks with rebels KATHMANDU, Friday (Reuters) Nepal's new government named two negotiators for talks with Maoist rebels, moving to further a peace process that aims to end a violent revolt that has claimed more than 7,200 lives. Finance Minister Prakash Chandra Lohani said he and Communications and Information Minister Kamal Thapa were assigned the task of continuing peace talks with the communist rebels by new Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, a member of the Maoist negotiating team, said the third round of talks would depend on how the new negotiators responded to their demands. |
