GUNEWARDENE ­ ROY   (Retd. Senior Superintendent of Police). Beloved husband of Malkanthi, loving father of Ruvinee (U.K.) and Roshan (Delmege Medical), father­in­law of Ruvini (Ceylinco Securities & Financial Services), darling grandfather of Hiruni (U.K.), brother of late Monica, Noel, late Oscar and Stella, brother­in­law of Vincent Perera, late Stephanie and late Vincent Fernando passed away peacefully in London. Remains were cremated at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Finchley, London. Ashes will be removed from A.F. Raymond’s at 10.00 a.m. for a Requiem Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, Thimbirigasyaya at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 14th June. Interment at Jawatte Cemetery R.C. Section. NAVARATNAM ­ ARUMUGASWAMY   (Formerly Manager Ceylon Shipping Lines and later Managing Director Great Circle Line ­ Dubai), passed away peacefully following a brief illness, at the Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday 11th June. Mr Navaratnam is survived by his beloved wife Seevamani, loving daughters Sakuntala (Canada), Devaranee (Thailand), Vasanthi (UK), sons­in­law Sri Ghanthan, Vishnu Mohan, Satkunaseelan and grandchildren Shano, Kavitha, Bavidra, Gina and Shivani. Mr Navaratnam was the eldest brother of the late Mr Nallalingam, Mrs Maheshwary Kumaraswamy Pillai, Mrs Manonmani Sangarapillai, both of Colombo, and Mrs Puvaneswary Manicavasagar of Jaffna. Viewing will take place at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue, Scarborough on Thursday June 12th and Friday June 13th from 6.30 to 9.00 p.m. Funeral rites at Ogden Funeral Home 8.00 a.m. on Saturday June 14th and Cremation at St James’ Crematorium, Parliament and Bloor. Beloved wife of late Amitodhana Wimalakirti (former Consul for Austria in Sri Lanka, 20 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7), beloved mother of Dr Amita Barshlomo and Mrs Kilanti Atkins, mother­in­law of Dr Benny Bar­Shlomo and Dr Christopher Atkins, grandmother of David and Ron Bar­Shlomo and Dr Mark Atkins and Shanti Atkins ­ Scullion passed away peacefully in Victoria,   British Columbia, Canada on 2nd June 2003. Ashes will be interned shortly in Sri Lanka.
