Grenade attack

by Asanga Warnakulasuriya

A hand grenade was thrown at the house of Puravasi Peramunu member, Vellupillai Vishwanathan Thursday night by two unidentified men while he was watching TV with his mother, Trincomalee Police said yesterday. The mother of Vishwanathan who was in a critical condition was rushed to Hospital and was later brought to Colombo.

Vishwanathan had managed to escape with minor injuries. "Police suspect the motive behind the killing could be connected to a land dispute where it was revealed that a court case regarding the dispute is pending ", Trincomalee Police HQI Inspector Nissanka Dassanayeka said.

Police are yet to make any arrests.
