by Ananda Kannangara All public servants affected by the floods at Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts are entitled to an interest free loan equivalent to their one month salary for reconstructing their damaged houses and properties. The loan could be obtained from their work places after producing relevant documents on the damage caused. The Ministry of Public Administration, Management and Reforms has issued a circular in this regard which is already sent to the Divisional Secretariats in all flood affected areas. According to the circular dated May 22, public servants who are in the permanent cadre and whose houses or other properties were damaged in the recent floods could apply for this loan. The circular also stated that the loan is interest free and will be deducted in ten instalments. Speaking to the Daily News, Public Administration Management and Reforms Minister, Wajira Abeyawardane said that the decision of granting such a loan was decided after a careful study on the flood affected public servants. "In addition to this loan the flood victims have been benefitted with many other flood relief programmes launched by the government and non governmental organisations. |
