Deheragoda, de Silva and Sarfraz fastest at Kotmale Hill Climb Dinesh Deheragoda driving his pet vehicle Mitsubishi Evolution VII set up the fastest time for the day at the Kotmale Hill Climb last Sunday which was organised by the Up Country Motor Sports Club. Mitsubishi Evolution sponsored by United Motors Ltd did well in this event, clocking 56.176 for the Group M & S Motor Cars the man behind the wheel being Deheragoda. He was followed by a Mitsubishi driven by Nadeera Jinasena. The other Evolution that returned a best time for Group T Motor Cars upto 2000 was Carmen Thenuwara. He clocked a time of 1:03.260. Veteran Rohan de Silva from Mobil Auto Colour racing team was in superb control of his Ford Formula in the Group F Motor Cars Modified event clocking a time of 0:56.176 for the event. The winner at the Radella Hill Climb last week in the Group A Motor Cars Sheran Fernando too came out with good performance driving his Citroen Saxo VTS to victory in this class. Meanwhile another Hill Climb specialist Dhammika Pieris performed a double winning the Group A Motor Cars over 14.0 kg and Group A Motor Cars 12.0 kg to 14 kg class events. Dinesh Jayawardena also grabbed two titles driving a Formula in the Group F Motor Cars and behind the wheel of a Honda Starlet won the Group M & S car 1050 - 1300 cc class event. Javid Wahab returned the best time for the Group A Motor Cars 6.0kg - 8.0 kg in a Caltex Honda Civic representing the Caltex team. Rajitha Cooke clocked the best time for 1050 cc Group M & S Cars Class. On the two wheelers category it was Sarfraz Junaid who returned the fastest time for the day on his Honda Caltex timing 1:03.954 secs. for the Group 'R' Motorcycles over 250 CC event. Sarfraz also clocked the best time for the Group Motorcycles riding a Honda Caltex. He returned a timing of 1:08.736 secs. Other riders who returned good timings in different categories were M. Jayawardene, Sarath Kumarasinghe and Saman Perera. Hondas took major honours in motorcycle events. |
