Tamil, Muslim reps meet LTTE Ampara leadership by R.Thurairatnam, Batticaloa Roving Corr. Tamil and Muslim community representatives and the LTTE Ampara leadership yesterday met at the Vavunathivu Divisional Secretariat to iron out differences on land issues in the East. The progress made on the implementation of the decisions arrived at the previous meeting was reviewed and both parties expressed satisfaction on the implementation of the proposals, a Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission spokesman told the Daily News. Both parties agreed to set up committees at the divisional secretariat level in order to sort out possible future misunderstandings between the two parties. Nominations for the committees are to be forwarded to the Batticaloa Government Agent before May 6. Housing Deputy Minister Basheer Segudawood led the Muslim delegation. The LTTE "special commander for the Batticaloa and Ampara districts", Ramesh led the LTTE delegation. Batticaloa MP Josep Pararajasingham also took part in the meeting chaired by the SLMM Batticaloa chief Laila Basawy. |
