BOI on 'Motor traders perturbed over project to assemble vehicles'

Referring to yesterday's article in the Daily News Business Pages under the heading 'Motor traders perturbed over BOI project to assemble vehicles' quoting the views of the Ceylon Motor Traders' Association on a proposed project to assemble vehicles using second hand and used spare parts the Board of Investment (BOI) has sent the following statement.

"A number of companies have applied for projects to assemble motor vehicles for the local market.

In response to strong opposition to these projects the BOI has suspended import/export facilities to such projects pending a decision by the Attorney General on issues raised therein" the statement said.
