Siriwardena steers Royal Opener Dimithri Siriwardena hit a magnificent 108 to steer Royal to a convincing 142 run win over St. John's College Jaffna in the Peace Trophy Quadrangular cricket tournament final played at reid Avenue yesterday. Siriwardena completed his second hunderd in the tournament with three sixes and six fours as Royal piled up a formidable 274 for 9 from their 50 overs after been put into bat. He also figured in a opening stand of 57 runs with Velu Aruklprakash and added 142 runs for the third wicket with Naveen Dias who made a soild 68. St. John's College in reply were shot out for 132 runs with only skipper C. Akilan providing any meaningful resistance scoring a fighting half century inclusive of two sixes and seven boundaries. he was also associated in a ninth wicket stand of 41 runs with S. Krishnakumar. |
