Ten teams will take part in the Under-24 15-a-side Rugby Tournament conducted by the Western Province Rugby Football Union which is being worked off from March 15 to 29 at CR and FC Grounds, Longden Place. The winners will be awarded the Le Bond Trophy.

The President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union Fazal Mohamed speaking at a press briefing said that the tournament will provide an opportunity for young school-leavers to show their prowess and thanked Hameedias for coming forward to sponsor the tournament.

The General Manager of Hameedia Jamshir Sourjah said that the tournament will help to unearth hidden talent and give youngsters a chance to show their skills. He also paid a glowing tribute to the Secretary of the WPRFU Nizam Jamaldeen, a leading referee and rugby coach who took great pains to make the tournament a success.

The notable absentees from this year's tournament are Army, Navy, Police, Havelocks and Kandy SC.
