The Sri Lankan presence at the ITB Berlin 2003 has been a grand success and the Sri Lanka Stand has being acclaimed and awarded as one of the best five in the Australia and Asia Pacific Region, states a Sri Lanka Tourist Board release. Delegates from travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and SriLankan Airlines comprised the Sri Lankan presence at the ITB 2003, further supported by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and its European Office in Frankfurt. The brisk negotiations that were in evidence at various booths conveyed the impression of sunny outlook for rapid growth of tourism in Sri Lanka. Prevailing peace and harmony in the country has been the main reason for the unprecedented attention and focus by the potential travellers especially in Germany whose nationals have resumed their interest in lush land all over again. Sri Lanka beyond beaches, nature, culture and adventure the theme focused at the ITB this year well received by the market movers in Germany, it is likely that once again tourist arrivals would cross the new high next year, said Sanath Wijetunga, Director of the European Office of the Frankfurt based Sri Lanka Tourist board. Sri Lanka's impressive exposure at the International tourism Exchange ITB 2003 has undoubtedly contributed to its progressive performance and growth at an impressive rate, said Sanath Wijetunga, Director of the European Office. |
