Vote for candidate who supports peace process - Gayantha

UNP Media spokesman Gayantha Karunathilake, disclosing the decision of the Executive Committee Meeting of March 3 chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe requests UNP loyalists who wish to exercise their franchise at the forthcoming Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha election to vote for a candidate who appreciates and supports the Government's peace process.

The UNP Executive Committee adopted this stance as a result of their inability to put forward candidates for the 21 seats in the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha, as the UNP nominations were rejected first by the Election Commissioner and subsequently by Court. Gayantha Karunathilake categorically denies the rumour that the UNP has entered into an alliance with the Bhoomiputhra Party contesting for the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha Election.
