Discharge certificates for Army deserters

The Sri Lanka Army has decided to stop hunting deserters and instead issue them discharge certificates after recovering dues, Defence officials said yesterday.

LTTE, UNICEF action plan for re-integration of child soldiers

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the United Nations International Children's Education Fund yesterday agreed on a "road map" to an action plan for the re-integration of child combatants and assisting children affected by war, both parties announced yesterday in a joint statement.
