Wijeratne leads against ECB XI

Schoolboy cricketer of the year Sahan Wijeratne of Prince of Wales College Moratuwa will captain the Sri Lanka under 19 team against the visiting ECB Academy side in a three day match starting at the Police Park today.

Another Sri Lankan youth cap Farveez Maharoof of Wesley College will be the vice captain of the side which also includes the captain of D. S. Senanayake College Kanchana Gunawardena and paceman Tharaka Kottahewa of Royal College.

The team: Sahan Wijeratne (captain), Farveez Maharoof (Wesley), Kanchana Gunawardena (D. S. Senanayake), Udesh Perera (St. Anne's), Kaushal Silva (S. Thomas'), Gihan de Silva (St. Peter's), Kosala Kulasekera (Vidyartha), Manoj Chanaka (Royal Panadura), Chinthaka Perera (President's College), Chanaka Komasaru (S. Thomas' Matara), Harsha Vithana (St. Aloysius), Suraj Mohamed (Sri Rahula Matara), Nadeera Nawala (Kalutara MV) and Tharaka Kottahewa. Coach: Ruwan Kalpage.
