Groove at the Hut'mosphere

by Tharika Goonathilake

The Hut, Colombo's newest discotheque offering a place for the night birds familiar with the '70s reggae, '80s disco and the '90s techno sounds, opened its doors once again to the public on Wednesday night. Replacing the Little Hut, the new nightclub offers an option for the 30 to 40 year clubbers to chill out with some of the most popular numbers of their era.

This is a welcome deviation from the usual night time entertainment available, given the present day craze of the new generation to listen to the techno raves and new age music. A live band sets the moods at The Hut on Fridays and Saturdays from 9.00 pm to 4.00 am, while DJs take the stage through Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, 9.00 pm to 2.00 am. You have to cough up Rs. 1,000 per couple, but this includes two drinks of your choice.

All that dancing and good music is not the only good thing going on at The Hut. When you take a break, The Hut bar has on offer a range of drinks and snacks that includes Hut specialities as well as the everyday deals of club sandwiches, hamburgs and fries.

There's a decent dance floor, good lights and cosy booths so whether you want to move to the groove, soak up the ambience or just chill out, The Hut provides a chance to put down your hair in style!
