Mobitel rugby sevens in Kandy The Mobitel sponsored first ever rugby sevens tournament organised by the Kandy Sports Club and Kandy Youth Sports Club will take place on Sunday at the Nittawela rugby grounds. The teams participating in this tournament are Combined Bank team, Old Rajans SC, Old Antonians SC, Old Kingswoodians SC, Old Trinitians SC, Old Sylverstians SC, Old Vidyarthians SC, Central Province Rugby Football Union, Kurunegala Rugby Football Club, Summer Hill SC from Nuwara Eliya, Dimbulla Athletic and Cricket Club. In addition during the lunch break an exhibition rugby match will be played between Kandy Ladies and Army Ladies, and at 4. pm Kandy SC Tights will play an over 35. exhibition match. According to the organising committee headed by New Zealender George Simpkins, the cup championship winners will receive a cash award of Rs. 20, 000.00 and a trophy. The runners-up will receive a cash award of Rs. 10, 000.00 and a trophy. The Plate and Bowl champions and the runners-up will also receive cash awards and trophies. Kandy is famous for organizing of top sporting events and this tournament too is certain to be a great show.
