The North and East Educational authorities claim they have not received the exact number of placements in the university including the Engineering and Medical Faculties which has been allocated to them under the district quota system, this year. The discrepancies are attributed to the new selection criteria, Z-score which was introduced by the University Grants Commission in 2001. The Tamil Parliamentarians are expected to call upon the PM to take steps to cancel this controversial Z-score method and introduce a new criteria that will do justice to all AL candidates. They have taken up the issues to be discussed with the PM at the TULF party office in Colombo yesterday. (MF) |
