Maligawatta residents felicitate Minister Mohamed

Residents of Maligawatta organized a Bodihi Pooja on Thursday, January 9 at the Keththarama temple to invoke blessings for the ongoing peace talks and to welcome M.H. Mohamed, Minister of Western Region Development, after his recent visit abroad. A Bodhi Pooja was conducted under the patronage of Venerable Welandagoda Yasassi Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Keththaramaya. The function was organised by the youth of all communities of the area.

Ven. Demalasse Medalankara Thera, Secretary of the Sasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya in his Anusasana, said that Minister Mohamed made an honest effort to resolve the recent problems in the area which is appreciated by all. He further said it is the leaders like this we need at the present juncture. If other leaders are also like him, the peace effort will be successful. The Thera blessed the Minister and wished him long life to serve the people.

Books were donated to needy children of Maligawatta area by Minister Mohamed. A number of distinguished guests including, venerable Walallawita Saddathissa Thera, Chief Incumbent of Bodirajarama Viharaya, Al Haj Moulavi Mohamed Niyas, Rehab J. Ariff, Private Secretary to Minister, Shaul Hameed, Member, of Western provincial Council and number of Municipal Councillors participated in this ceremony.
