Rebuilding public trust: opportunities for business community An interactive forum on "Rebuilding Public Trust: Opportunities for the Business Community" organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be held on January 27 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the Chamber Auditorium. The forum is designed for business leaders to engage in an open dialogue with decision makers in the Government on a topic that is of tremendous importance to develop the business sector. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will chair the panel at this interaction. He will provide information on the theme, comment on issues raised by the facilitators and answer questions posed by participants. The other panellist at this seminar is Dr D C Jayasuriya, Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. Some insights into the theme will be presented as follows: Creating transparency through sound accounting practices, Dr Wickrema Weerasooria, Advisor, Ministry of Tertiary Education and Training Legal Perspective/ Role of a regulator, Aritha Wickramanayake, Senior Partner, Nithya Partners A look in the mirror on corporate issues, Chandra Jayaratne, Managing Director, Eagle Insurance Co. Ltd, Lesson to learn from Global business Sujeewa Mudalige, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers Media as the watchdog of corporate good governance Dalton de Silva, Associate Editor, The Business Standard. The forum will enable business leaders to gain insights into the new opportunities for business development in the context of the ongoing peace process. It will also be a platform for representatives of the business sector to focus on business issues that related to Government involvement. |
