Dipped Products Strategic Business Audit on MTI's 8S Dipped Products, one of Sri Lanka's foremost value-added exporters and a leading player in the global rubber gloves (hand protection) market, have concluded a Strategic Business Audit, based on MTI's internationally acclaimed 8S model. Having pioneered the concept of value added exports; the Hayleys subsidiary of DPL has made significant progress in a sustainable manner since its beginning in 1976. Today DPL is a Rs. 3 Billion, public quoted company, with a reputation for top end hand protection (rubber gloves) solutions. DPL's products are sold in 45 countries and have recently forward integrated with a strategic equity stake in one of there retail customers in Italy. In carrying out the strategic audit, MTI's Bahrain-based CEO and the internationally consultant Hilmy Cader, identified several key success factors of the DPL: Company Leadership, staff commitment, investment in technology at the right time and the decision to add value (Vs. a commodity approach). He said "DPL bottom-line in a highly competitive global market speaks for itself". Tanky Wickremeratne, the CEO of DPL, under whose stewardship the company has grown to the current status, felt that the current global market changes have challenged the company to further sharpen its strategic focus and consequently invited the MTI Consulting (who have carried out many successful consulting assignments with Hayleys subsidiaries) to carry out the strategic audit-based on which to develop a long term strategic plan. MTI's 8 S based Strategic Business Audit and Planning Process involved DPL's 30 strong management team, who carried out several research assignments, took part in a two-day off-site residential, culminating with the 8 S based Planscape. MTI's 8 S is a broad-spectrum strategic planning process; starting with the scope of the business works its way down to Systems - in a sequential and flexible manner. It is a very comprehensive, all encompassing model that also covers Structure, Staff, Systems and Social Responsibility. |
