Higher productivity with five-S System at Sri Lanka Telecom by Sudarshana Perera The five-S concept implemented at Sri Lanka Telecom an year ago has brought it to a unified standard and to a level of continuous quality, said Thilanga Sumathipala, Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom at the first five-S awards ceremony 2002 at the BMICH last week. Since Sri Lanka Telecom is a big company in the share market, we are cast with a responsibility to bring Sri Lanka Telecom to compete with other global communication giants and render a satisfactory customer service and the implementation of the five-S concept has contributed a major share in achieving these aspirations. "I am very optimistic that in the future too the five-S concept will help Sri Lanka Telecom to become one of the most efficient and technology advanced telecom giants in the world," he said. Speaking on the current position of Sri Lanka Telecom Sumathipala commended the commitment and co-operation of the staff members in bringing the company to what it is today. Shuhei Anan, CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom said that the Five-S system launched for the first time in the company was a significant contributory factor in achieving higher productivity and customer satisfaction last year. "You have the capacity to face the challenges and make Sri Lanka telecom a dynamic global company," he said. Lal Ranjith, Secretary of the Five-S Steering Committee outlined the activities launched under the Five-S program at Telecom offices islandwide and the results achieved. Priyantha Perera, Sunil Wijesinghe and Mahinda Samarapala also spoke. |
