Disabled Ex-Servicemen want inquiry into sabotage

The Association of Disabled Ex-Servicemen request the Government to hold an impartial inquiry into the sabotage of the Association's annual general meeting on November 17 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre allegedly by Sihala Urumaya supporters.

Association president Asoka Dayaratna told a news conference yesterday that they will take legal action against Shantha Jayatilleke a Sihala Urumaya candidate at the last general elections, for disrupting their annual general meeting.

Dayaratna also accused Fort Police for their inability to control protestors at the AGM. "Fort Police did not act impartially and supported protesters as they had the backing of a retired police officer who is a member of Sihala Urumaya", he added.

The Government should hold an impartial inquiry into the acts of the Sihala Urumaya as they are trying to create a war situation again.

Dayaratna said their organisation will take legal action against police too. He said the association could not launch its web-site and the paper due to the disruption at the annual general meeting by the Sihala Urumaya backed protest.
