The new Sri Lanka Association of Travel and Tourism (SLATT) was launched at the BMICH on Monday, bringing the country's inbound and outbound travel and tourism sectors under one umbrella.

Tourism Minister Gamini Lokuge was the chief guest.

The Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) and Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL) has been amalgamated to form the new Association which will act as a joint front to promote Sri Lanka as an attractive destination.

The new Association, although linking the outbound and inbound sectors will be operated by two independent executive committees comprising 12 members, headed by independent Chairmen.

The SLATT's founder President-elect Udaya Nanayakkara said that SLATT has created history while paving the way for greater cooperation that will bolster the industry to greater heights.
