The 141st feast of the Immaculate Conception of St. Mary's Church, Mattakkuliya will be celebrated on December 8, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jude Algama said. Fr. Algama called upon the faithful to reflect upon the word of God at the novenas and all other religious sessions organised in preparation of the feast day. He stressed the need to give more time to personal prayer and to encourage and help those in financial difficulties. "Go in search of all those brothers and sisters who have gone astray and bring them back to the Lord lovingly," Fr. Algama said. The program is as follows: Hoisting of the ceremonial flag - November 29 (Friday) at 5.00 p.m.; Spiritual Preparations - November 29, to December 5 (Sinhala 6.30 p.m. and Tamil 4.30 p.m.); Healing Service - December 6 at 6.30 p.m. Conducted by Rev. Fathers Darrel Coonge and Gunam; Vespers - December 7, at 7.00 p.m. presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Marcus Ferdinandez. Feast day December 8 - Sinhala Mass - 6.30 a.m., Tamil Mass - 7.30 a.m., Festive High Mass - 8.45 a.m. (Rev. Fr. Tony Martin will be the Chief Celebrant), Procession - 5.00 p.m. |
