Kapuwatte heads WUSHU Chairman of the Sugathadasa Stadium National Sports Authority, Chrishantha Kapuwatte has been appointed chairman of the Sri Lanka Wushu Federation Interim Committee by the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Johnston Fernando yesterday. The other members of the four-member Wushu interim administration are Manel Dharmakeerthie (Secretary), Ruchira Bodhinagoda (Treasurer) and Kapila de Silva (Member). Kapuwatte played a key role in hosting the ICC Mini World Cup cricket and Asian Athletic championships, at the stadia, which comes under the Sugathadasa Stadium National Sports Authority. Dharmakeerthie is the founder secretary General of Wushu Federation of Sri Lanka and is an International Wushu Judge and referee.He is a past president too. He is also the Joint Secretary general of South Asian Wushu Federation. The Wushu Federation was dissolved a couple of years back by then Sports Minister S. B. Dissanayake, after allegations of irregularities. (D.W.) |
