Union Assurances & DPMC in cager final

Union Assurance and David Pieris Motor Company Limited qualified to meet in the final while recording convincing victories in the Delmege Super League 'B' Division basketball tournament worked off at the Otters Aquatic Club courts, yesterday.

Union Assurance warmed up in style ahead of Friday's important final defeating Ranawana Company Limited 93-72 after leading 47-33 at half time. Their victory was fashioned by playmaker Aruna Wickremage who made a superb contribution of 34 points. S. Amila was the top scorer for Ranawana with 21 points. Earlier David Pieris maintained their impressive record in the 'B' Division tournament while defeating Commercial Bank 92-70 in the first semi-final encounter. The winners had the game well under control from the start and built up a commanding 46-29 lead at half time.

This was mainly due to the individual contribution of Sudantha Laksiri who ended up with 29 points. Roshan Ethiliyagoda figured in a vain attempt for Commercial Bank with 17 points. Exciting win

Meanwhile Hatton National Bank 'B' team qualified to meet Ceylinco Group in the 'C' Division final with an exciting 65-63 win over Maritime Holdings. This final will be played at the Depot Police courts, Bambalapitiya today along with the 'D' Division final between Metropolitan Group and Eagle Insurance.
