by Ananda Kannangara Dharmaratna Brothers will celebrate their 35th year in music with a musical show Dashaka Tunaka Madura Geetha (Melodious Songs of Three Decades) at the Public Library Auditorium, Colombo on Friday. Media personality Dharmasiri Gamage will be the chief guest at the show commencing at 4 pm. The show will be organised by the Sri Movement, Kotahena to felicitate the three surviving members of the original Dharmaratna brothers, Christie, Maxwell and Melroy for their service to the local music scene during the past three decades. The fourth member Ronald passed away sometime back. Melroy Dharmaratna, the youngest of four brothers and also the live wire of the band, told the Daily News that the event was organised on numerous requests by music lovers who like songs of yesteryear. Several artistes including Raju Bandara, Priyankara Perera, Ranil Mallawarachchi, Indrani Perera, Paul Fernando, Felix Anton, Saman Silva, Upali Perera and Ranmini Lorensuhewa will participate. Tilakaratna Kuruwitabandara and Tissa Abesekara will make special speeches. A new cassette and a CD with songs of Melroy Dharmartana and a novel Adara Devola also written by him will be released on this day. |
