by Panadura group correspondent Six men who allegedly robbed Rs. 2.25 million worth of jewellery from the Horana Sanasa Co-operative bank a two weeks ago were arrested by police. Police said they recovered 22 kilos of jewellery from the suspects all under 25 years. The men with weapons had threatened the bank employees and stolen the jewellery on November 16, police said. The master brain behind the robbery, an army deserter, is at large. The van used during the robbery was also seized. A hand grenade and a galkatas in the suspect's possession has also been taken into custody. The suspects produced before Horana Magistrate was remanded pending investigations. |
