Scholarship to children victimized by the war

mahakaluhela.com will be awarding scholarships to children victimized by the war. The awards are being made in loving memory of Mr. Jayarathna Bandara Wijekoon who was killed in the Central Bank attack in 1996 and Mr. D.S. Rupasinghe who was killed in the Rajagiriya cross fire.

Eligibility

A child who had been directly affected by the war in Sri Lanka physically or emotionally. (loss of a parent or disability of a parent)

Application Requirements

. Application by the child's parent/guardian covering basic information about the child (name, age, date of birth, school, address, progress in school etc.)

. Letter from the Grama Sevaka explaining the child's family's economic situation.

. Report from the school principal explaining the students progress and potential.

. Certified copies of any document which would prove the child's eligibility to receive the award. (doctors certificates, death certificates etc.)

. Applications are accepted in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.

Application deadline is 15th December, 2002.
