Hambantota special correspondent

Wild elephants roaming in and around Liyanagastota Grama Niladari (GN) area, have become a threat to human life and the cultivation of the people living in the area.

The hamlet situated in the Ambalantota DS area councils of 449 families whose main livelihood is paddy cultivation.

During the recent past three persons had been killed by wild elephants and had caused immense destruction to the properties as well as to the cultivation of the villagers.

The people in the village request the authorities to relocate the "Thani Aliya" or one elephant roaming with the herds of elephants which is the major threat to the human lives or to put-up an electric fence to remedy the problem to a certain extent.
