by Uditha Kumarasinghe and Puttalam District Group Correspondent Prasad Purnamal Mundel Police is conducting investigations into the incident where a van belonging into Puttalam District PA MP D. M. Dassanayake was set on fire by an unidentified gang on Friday night. According to Police, the van had been sent to a garage in Madurankuliya to have it repaired and the garage owner had parked the vehicle close to a Chinese restaurant for it's safety. Two persons had come on a motorcycle wearing helmets and had set fire to the vehicle after threatening to the restaurant owner. The act of arson had also damaged the restaurant. The Police said no suspect has been arrested so far. On a complaint made by MP Dassanayake, the Police are hunting for two persons in connection with this incident. The Townace van bearing the number 253-6132 worth Rs. 1.4 million has been purchased three months ago on an instalment basis and registered in the name of MP's wife Indrani Dassanayake. |
