World beauties at Lake House

The "House" by the "Lake", the most premier newspaper and publishing house in the country, had a refreshing distraction from its rigorous schedules when the world beauties of Miss Tourism International 2002 pageant paid it a visit yesterday. The first encounter with Miss

Tourism International contestants in the history of Lake House had its employees flooding to the entrance and stairways craning a get a closer look.

The beauties, accompanied by Sebastian Perera - the Franchise Director for the pageant and Chairman, Organizing Committee - were feted at the entrance with Araliya garlands and escorted to the Board Room of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd.

where they were welcomed by its youthful Chairman - Nalin Ladduwahetty, Director-Editorial - Bandula Padmakumara, Working Director - D.K. Somasiri, General Manager - B.A. Jinadasa and Chief Executive Officer - A.M.S.B. Amarakoon.

"We had difficult times during the last five years but now that we have peace, we can expect more festivals of this nature in future," the Chairman said. "With your visit, you have brought luck and peace to us and tomorrow, when you open the Daily News, you will see your beautiful faces."

The beauties were briefly acquainted with how newspapers were made at the Camera, VDT, dispatch and advertising departments and later served with refreshments, where the first complementary gift from the house was presented to Miss Denmark by Chairman. The rest of the beauties received their gifts from Director-Editorial.

Jackie Perera, Director, Celsin Ltd. and Executive Committee Member of the pageant and Angela Humble, international compere and choreographer, also accompanied the beauties.
