Quality award winners share their experiences

The winners of the National Quality Awards competition conducted by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) shared their experiences in quality management activities with the business community at a conference recently in Colombo.

The Sri Lanka National Quality Awards Scheme based on the Malcom Baldridge Quality Awards Scheme of USA was launched in 1994 to recognise business organisations which excel in quality management activities based on seven criteria namely; the Leadership, Strategic Planning, Information and Analysis, Customer and Market Focus, Business Results, Process Management and Human Resource Development. The Chief Executive Officers of the winning companies from 1998 to 2001 presented an outline of the winning strategies and explained the benefits achieved since winning the Awards.

Sharing of experiences and knowledge with other companies is one of the obligations of the winning companies under this scheme.

Over 250 participants mostly from the business sector attended the seminar.
