by Ananda Kannangara Education Minister Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku recently focused special attention on a group of students of Aquinas College participating in a leadership development programme. The organizer of the program, the National Academy for Political Education (NAPE) had arranged several lectures and workshops for the benefit of participants to enable them to improve their leadership qualities and organising skills. A cultural show was also organised to display the aesthetic skills of students during the course of this program, conducted by the National Institute of Plantation Management (NIPM) at Aturugiriya. Dr. Kodituwakku highlighted the importance of conducting such programs for the benefit of youngsters and said that these programs will immensely help the youth develop their leadership qualities from a tender age. "Considering the large number of youth, living among us today it is our responsibility to develop your leadership qualities and various other inborn talents you have, as you are the leaders who will have to take up the challenges of the 21st century", Dr. Kodituwakku said. The Minister also thanked the NAPE for organising such valuable programs and encouraged them to continue with these programs in the years to come. Aquinas Youth Club, President Maheshika Kuruppuarachchi thanked Dr. Kodituwakku and the resident representative of Konrad Adenauer Education Facility Dr. Marrlis Salazar for their participation at the workshop and the encouragement given. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr. Narmal Fernando, Rev. Raymond Samarakoon, NAPE, Administrative Officer W.M.S.K.G. Senanayake, Miss Nishanthi Sureka and L.A.U.I. Liyandeniya for giving them an opportunity to display their talents. |
