M. U. B. Jayasekera. He was addressing a press conference held at the Colombo JMC premises recently. It was held to mark the JMC's 30 years of service. He said, Samurdhi Ministry was fully supportive of this program which will enable bright students to qualify as Chartered Accountants, Financial Accountants, Book Keepers etc. Students of Samurdhi families will have the opportunity of bettering their prospects. Mr. Jayasekera also said, the objective of the program was for the average bright students of low-income families to attain a high status in life, rather than allowing only the students of affluent families to be Accountants etc. This gesture by the JMC is to uplift the quality of life of low-income families. The Managing Director said, JMC started with three students in 1972, but today there are over 3,000 students. This shows the efficiency of JMC. The JMC is also rendering a great social service to needy and poor students. It is now over 30 years old and expects to be of more service to the country.
