Navy Chief's term extended by Ranil Wijayapala The services of the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri will be extended by another one year from August 31. Defence Secretary Austin Fernando told the Daily News that the letter regarding the extension of the Navy Commander's service has already been submitted to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga's approval. The Navy Commander will turn 55 years on August 31. He assumed duties as the 14th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy on January 1, 2001. he has already completed 36 years' service in the Sri Lanka Navy having enlisted on November 14, 1966. |
