Polythene waste problem at Sigiriya

by Matale district group correspondent

The usage of polythene-based products in Sigiriya archaeological site by local tourists has increased environmental pollution.

Owing to this situation the existing water flower system has been out of order with the blocking of underground water pipes with polythene waste.

Meanwhile other natural resources in the site are also being affected. According to the environmentalists, polythene waste has polluted the entire Sigiriya archaeological site. Therefore suitable measures have to be adopted to overcome this situation soon.
