Seylan Bank in major promotion of Western Union services Seylan Bank has concluded a major promotion of its Western Union services for inward remittances in Germany whilst participating in three concerts. The concerts were held in Wuppertal, Kassel, and in Dortmund. all three concerts were sponsored by Western Union as Sri Lanka is considered one of its growing markets with Seylan Bank functioning as the principal agent, while the People's Bank is a sub agent. At the concerts there was a special price promotion for Sri Lankans remitting money to Sri Lanka available only through Reise Bank. At each of these concerts prepaid telephone card vouchers were distributed to the audience. The concert at Wuppertal was held in a concert hall close to Koln with nearly 1,500 Sri Lankans from various towns in Germany attending it. The concert at Kassel held in the plush banquet hall of Reise Hotel attracted a packed audience of about 500 people while the concert at Dortmond attracted approximately 1,000 Sri Lankans. Seylan Bank was represented at all three concerts by M.M. Naina Marikar, Brand Manager, and Western Union who was joined by Clemens Wesely who represented Western Union, Germany. Western Union is a subsidiary of First Data Corporation in Paramose USA which is one of the Fortune 500 companies. Western Union is popular among the 70,000 Sri Lankans residing in Germany, who use the facility for making remittances to Sri Lanka. The money transfer facility is available through either the 800 branches of Reise Bank or the 6,000 branches of Postbank in Germany. |
