A guide to financial services in Sri Lanka The Central Bank has issued its latest publication "A guide to financial services in Sri Lanka" published in all three languages. This publication is the booklet version of the two-paged newspaper supplement published by the Central Bank on January 20, 2002 on the same title. The publication presents vital information to enhance the awareness of the public on their transactions with financial institutions in Sri Lanka and the benefits and risks associated with such transactions. The coverage of information has been specially determined in response to numerous inquiries received by the Central Bank from the public, from time to time, relating to financial institutions and their services. Some key information presented in the publication relates to the structure of financial institutions, authorised deposit-taking institutions and the authorised types of deposits, interest rates on deposits and advances of licensed banking institutions, transactions in government securities, foreign exchange transactions, fees and commissions charged by commercial banks for various services. Therefore, this publication would be an extremely useful document for students, teachers, researchers, policy makers and members of the public who have an interest in banking and finance. The publication is available at the publication sales counter of the Central Bank at the Centre for Banking Studies, Rajagiriya, Central Bank Regional Offices in Matara, Matale and Anuradhapura and at a number of leading bookstores. |
